Who are we looking for?
Theatre Terrific seeks 4 to 6 actors of all cultures, genders and abilities to take part in the adventurous, unique theatre-making project THE ELDERS VOICES PROJECT.
The Elders Voices Project is a unique collaborative presentation development done in partnership with the Jewish retirement home, Louis Brier Home and Hospital, and the inclusive theatre company, Theatre Terrific. This project seeks to build relationships, respect and connection between elders, family, friends and the younger generation of all cultures and abilities by sharing stories, memories through movement, voice, gesture, music, poetry and song to create a performance collage.
The work hours and schedule are limited as we are guests in the ‘home’ of the Elders and must adapt to their routine.
There will also be an Indigenous Elder contributing process and protocol.
Three final ‘performances’ will invite audience into the home to bear witness and to share in the rich depository of life, purpose, relationship, experience and meaning that Elders have to share.
Auditions are run as a group theatre ensemble structure using the ritual process of enter, enact and exit. The audition will include voice and physical work such as Viewpoints and Suzuki. A simple two-person conversation script and a simple song or voice sounding will also be enacted.
We seek artists who can work with an inclusive casting, are committed, willing to collaborate with those who may be different, are adventurous, generous and open to unique methods of theatre creation.
The work and final performances will take place at Louis Brier Home and Hospital at 1055 West 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC
